If you like lists, here's one to follow. Our local SEO audits show that less than 1% of businesses have completed this checklist. Their loss is your gain!
- Establish your business name, address and phone number (NAP).
- Claim Google My Business Listing (using your NAP)
- Claim secondary search site local listings.
- Claim social media site business pages
- Submit to major database aggregators (we have a list if you need it)
- Complete top level citations and directories (there are 1000's - we prioritize by value to Google)
- Collect reviews and testimonials - prioritizing Google My Business and Yelp
- Add Content Markup to you Webpage (talk to your webmaster)
- Add your location to your website (every page) using the NAP you established
- External linking - Link to BBB and other valuable web assets to your business
- Make sure you pass the speed test (on average 2 seconds or less for page load).
- Create high quality unique content (no copying allowed) - Our Hyperblog method is awesome for this
- Consider voice search (cutting edge but coming fast) optimization.
- Backlinks (not easy but very effective). Links from other sites (especially local) to your site tell Google that your site has important content.
- NEW: Add Accelerated Mobile Pages (AMP) to Your Website
